Lichen Planus

What is Lichen Planus ?

Lichen planus is a chronic autoimmune disorder that affects the skin and mucous membranes. It is characterized by the appearance of purplish, flat-topped bumps on the skin, and sometimes by white patches on the inside of the mouth. The cause of lichen planus is not fully understood, but it is thought to be related to the immune system. It is not contagious, and it is not cancerous. The condition can be managed with medications and self-care measures, but it cannot be cured. If you have symptoms of lichen planus, you should see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
